Cosentino Winery truly embodies the spirit and innovation of Mitch Cosentino’s artesian approach to winemaking. In our Napa and Sonoma Series, these wines are defined by the dedicated grape growers of the north coast, who provide the fruit for these superb collections of artisinal wines. Additionally in our Renassance Series, Mitch Cosentino reaches beyond grapes & terroir and looks to his imagination to fashion these expressions of his art.  Established in the Napa Valley in 1990, Cosentino Winery has been a trend setter in the California wine industry, widely recognized for producing more ultra premium varietals than any other winery in the Napa Valley. Subject to growing conditions, Cosentino Winery may make up to 30 different wines in a particular vintage. No other wine in Cosentino’s portfolio represents this signature variety and versatility quite like “THE POET”, our Napa Valley Red Meritage, designated almost 20 years ago as America’s first “Meritage” wine in 1989. “The Poet” is a wine that truly knows no boundaries, akin to the spirit in which Cosentino Winery continues to create new and exciting wines year after year.

M Coz

“M.Coz” is Mitch Cosentino’s Signature Wine. A champion of California wine, “M.Coz” is fashioned in the classic style of the greatest Bordeaux blends throughout history, while simultaneously exemplifying the very best of the Napa Valley. ‘First Growth’ selection of grapes, lavish chateaux barrels and impeccable, individual-lot winemaking are fused to make this Bordeaux inspired crown jewel of the Cosentino Winery .  A true representative of Napa Valley, M.Coz is a Meritage blend crafted from the regions’ greatest vineyards. In fact, the M.Coz label is shaped as a map of the Napa Valley, with its dots representing the multiple M.Coz vineyard sources located in Yountville, Oakville , and St. Helena. Since its first vintage release in 1988 known then as “Cos Napa Valley”, “M.Coz” appeared on its label with the 1989 vintage and has since garnered consistent recognition as one of the world’s greatest wines. Among its many prestigious accolades, M.Coz is a proud three time “Double Gold” winner of The San Francisco International Wine Competition as well as having twice been awarded the Competition’s “Best Wine” Award (1994 and 2001 vintages). The 1997 was also chosen as the Best Wine of California at the California State Fair Wine Competition. 

Cigarzin

THE ZIN & CIGARZIN stand out as two of the most popular wines in our Cosentino portfolio. Both of these wines are produced at our Crystal Valley Cellars winery and represent the very best of California Zinfandels. Made from Old Vines grown in Lodi, THE ZIN and CIGARZIN are crafted in two uniquely different styles, reflecting the versatility of this great varietal. THE ZIN is fashioned in a more traditional California Zinfandel style, focusing on fruit forward, ripe black berry and black cherry flavors that burst in your pallet and continues with a long balanced finish. THE CIGARZIN, in comparison, focuses on red fruit characteristics such as raspberry, strawberry and red cherries while its nose has hints of cedar notes and cigar box. CIGARZIN, inspired by the lavish red wines of Spain and Portugal, owes its massive personality to the late pick black fruit of old vine, Lodi Zinfandel. The combination of these aromas and flavors, along with the wine’s ripe and bold structure allows CIGAZIN the versatility to stand up to even the finest cigars, hence its name: THE CIGARZIN. You are in for a treat when you try THE ZIN and CIGARZIN, and you’ll immediately know why these wines are so popular!

The Wines

“The California Series” is a collection of wines dedicated to expressing authentic varietal characteristics of a particular grape. “THE” wines reveal the true range of California’s finest wine grapes, meticulously sourced from specific vineyards throughout California that are best suited to grow those particular varietals.  “‘THE’ Wines” are produced at Crystal Valley Cellars, our Lodi, California based winery. “‘THE” Wines” possess a rare balance of ease and complexity that makes each wine extremely accessible today as well as having the ability to age and provide enjoyment for years to come. Our most popular releases bare “THE” on our labels such as “THE ZIN”, “THE CAB”, “THE MED” and “THE CHARD”. Many of “THE” wines are dedicated to very small lot productions of Old World and Mediterranean varietels. Some of these wines are very rare and are only available in the Cosentino Tasting Rooms or exclusively through the Cosentino Wine Clubs.

Legends

Legends is the partnership between “Hall of Fame” basketball legend, Larry Bird and “Winemaking” legend Mitch Cosentino. The two have teamed up to produce championship caliber wines. These limited, collectable wines are handmade by our resident legend Mitch Cosentino for the wine drinking sports fan. “Legends” produces game winning wines that have had rave reviews right out of the starting gates. Larry Bird and Mitch Cosentino have teamed up not only because they both love wine, but because they both share the same passion for being the best. The Legends line-up includes four “All-Star” wines that are handcrafted in the Cosentino tradition of small batch lots: Cabernet Sauvignon, Meritage, Merlot and Chardonnay.  

Blockheadia

Blockheadia, the newest addition to the Cosentino family of wineries, is a boutique Winery that was founded in 1992 by restaurateur and vintner, Michael Ouellette. Blockheadia’s first harvest in that same year was custom crushed and produced at Cosentino Winery, with Mitch Cosentino as the winemaking advisor. Blockheadia has grown over the years, now specializing in small batches of Petite Sirah and Zinfandel, as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and a Provencal styled Rose that are exclusively fermented and aged in stainless steels tanks under the “All Tank” label moniker. Blockheadia and Michael Ouellette became part of the Cosentino family of Wineries in 2006.

CE2V

CE2V is Cosentino Wineries’ second Napa Valley based luxury winery. Nestled in the hills of the Napa Valley, CE2V is located at the southern opening to Pope Valley and rests on 160 magnificent acres. The Estate contains 82 acres of vineyards that are designated to growing specialized and unusual varietal clones of the highest caliber.  The winery produces a collection of wines made exclusively from unique and historical clonal selections that are very rare or unseen in this country, some of whose origins are a mystery and/or cannot be divulged. CE2V is a true boutique winery, optimizing the Cosentino philosophy of small batch, hand crafted wines. CE2V produces a limited amount of three estate wines from our new facility. These wines are our “‘Secret Clone’ Estate Cabernet Sauvignon”, our “Estate Chardonnay” and our “Estate Meritage”. CE2V’s first commercial release was our 1997vintage of Meritage”.  

Edie

It is with this spirit in mind that Cosentino Wineries’ only Sauterne style wine is appropriately named “Edie”. A commitment to perfection, our truly noble sweet wine is named after our proprietress, Edie Soldinger. The Edie is a beautiful, sweet and classically styled wine, beginning with berry by berry selections of Botrytised Semillon and followed by aging in rare French acacia wood barrels. “Edie’s late harvest Semillon grapes are grown in the Napa Valley and crafted using authentic Sauterne techniques, from the pressing of the wine to the specialized barrels in which it is aged. “Edie” is a very rare wine, a labor of love that can only be produced when the conditions are perfect to do so. Because of this, there have only been two vintage releases of “Edie”. The 2000 and 2003 vintages were both produced in very limited amounts.
